Nigeria's Boko Haram pledges allegiance to Islamic State

Nigerian militant group Boko Haram has pledged allegiance to Islamic State (IS), according to an audio statement.

The message, which was not verified, was posted on Boko Haram's Twitter account and appeared to be by the group's leader, Abubakar Shekau.

Boko Haram began a military campaign to impose Islamic rule in northern Nigeria in 2009. The conflict has since spread to neighbouring states.

ISIS hang bodies of dead soldiers at entrance to city they plan to make new HQ

At the entrance to the Iraqi city of Hawija eight lifeless bodies are strung up by their feet, in yet another public display of horror by the Islamic State.

The infamous black flag of terror is also clearly visible as onlookers gather to watch the abhorrent spectacle. Some of the dead men appear to be wearing military fatigues but it is not known if they were Iraqi soldiers.

Update: Death toll rises To 51 in Maiduguri bomb blast this morning

As I earlier reported, Boko Haram insurgents coordinated three explosions in the morning of March 7, 2015, Saturday. 

According to latest reports, at least 51 people lost their lives, over 100 sustained various injuries in the worst attack on the capital of Borno state, Maiduguri, since the beginning of the year.

Chikeluba, a 21-year-old student of Federal College of Science and Technical Yaba, Lagos, met the victim on Facebook sometime in 2013.

Suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber kills at least 10 in blast at market in Maiduguri, Nigeria this morning

At least 10 persons are feared killed in a bomb explosion from a suicide bomber riding in a Keke Napep in Maiduguri.

The explosion, which occurred at a crowded commercial area in Maiduguri,  went off about an hour ago. 

Witnesses said many people  were affected.

Bamako (AFP) - Two Europeans and three locals were shot dead in a nightclub Mali's capital early Saturday in a suspected terror attack that came as the government reached a key stage of peace talks with militants in the restive north.

At least one masked gunman entered the club in an area of Bamako popular with expatriates around 1:00 am (0100 GMT) and opened fire, according to security forces.

President Jonathan negotiating to stop execution of 3 Nigerians in Indonesia

When he hosted the new Indonesian ambassador to Nigeria, Harry Purwanto, two days ago at the presidential villa, Pres. Goodluck Jonathan began negotiations with him for a moratorium on three Nigerians who are facing imminent execution in that country.

The three Nigerians are Silvester Obiekwe Nwolise (39), Okwudili Oyatanze (40), and Spanish born Nigerian Raheem Agbaje Salami (45). They are facing execution alongside six other foreign nationals for drug-related offences by the Indonesian authorities.
