Buhari Expresses Satisfaction with Conduct of Polls

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the Presidential and National Assembly elections nationwide.

General Buhari said the hiccups experienced in few states over the card readers were not enough to cast aspersions on the election.

Police Arrests Man Who Uses Monkeys And Snakes For Robbery In Lagos

27-year-old Mohammed Nafiu, who uses monkeys and snakes to rob people of their money and valuables has been arrested by the police in Lagos, alongside his monkey.

The Kano State-born Nafiu, while speaking with the police, said he initiated this method of robbery operation some years ago with his accomplice, Nura, who is still at large.

APC wins Obasanjo’s polling unit

The All Progressives Congress won the polling unit of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in the Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections, beating the ex-president’s former party, the Peoples Democratic Party, to the second place.

INEC suspends election in Delta community over insecurity

The Independent National Electoral Commission has suspended election in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State after the police said they could not guarantee security in the area.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Anidi Ikowak, said in Agbor that some stakeholders in the area did not allow electoral officers to move voting materials to polling units.

One dies as PDP, APC supporters clash in Osun

There was panic in Ikirun, Osun State, on Saturday as the presidential election was ongoing when supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress clashed.

Olu of Epe’s son, five others drown after voting

Kunle Adewale, a son of the Olu of Epe, and five others drowned on Saturday in a river after their boast capsized.

It was learnt that Kunle, who is a Director in the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, is the first son of the Olu of Epe, Oba Shefiu Adewale, who ascended the throne two years ago.

Asari Dokubo says that no INEC officials will leave the centre as he fails to get accredited

Former militant, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo has aired his displeasure after his PVC was rejected by the card reader at his polling unit  at Bakana in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The ex militant said no body would leave the polling unit till everyone is accredited as the card reader was also unable to accredit other voters .

He said it was a deliberate attempt to disenfranchise his people..

Bomb blast hits Anambra polling unit

An explosion has occurred at a polling unit in Anambra State.

The bomb went off today, March 28, at a primary school in Awka, the state capital.
However, there were no lives lost and no one was injured in the blast.

Tension in Oshodi over military presence

There was palpable tension in parts of Oshodi on Saturday as military men occupied some strategic roads in the area following an attempt by a mob to attack policemen and INEC officials on election duty.

Two killed as Boko Haram attacks polling stations in Gombe

At least two people were killed in a suspected Boko Haram attack on polling stations in northeast Nigeria on Saturday, residents and an election official told AFP.

The attacks happened in the villages of Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state, which has been repeatedly targeted by the Islamists.

An election official, who requested anonymity, said: “We could hear the gunmen shouting, ‘Didn’t we warn you about staying away from (the) election?'”

Bomb Explosion at Enugu Polling Centre

ENUGU – An explosion has occurred at WTC School 1,polling unit at about 7.38AM which left voters and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, scampering for safety.

Two others were detonated at about 8.56AM at the same premises by the operatives of the Anti-Bomb Squad of the Enugu Police command.

INEC’s website was earlier hacked but now restored

The website of the Independent National Electoral Commission was hacked by a group that parades itself as Nigerian Cyber Army. The hacking was confirmed by INEC on its Twitter handle, @inecnigeria.

Thug tackles, apologises to Tinubu at polling unit

A former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was embarrassed by a thug, Ise Aye, while Tinubu was doing his accreditation at polling unit 047 on Kaffi/Sunday Adigun Street, Alausa, Ikeja.

The thug, who had scars on his face and tattoos all over his body, shouted at the governor and accused him of neglecting some of the youths in the area.

Card reader failure: INEC okays manual accreditation

The INEC has given approval for its officers to accredit voters manually after being sufficiently satisfied that the Permanent Voter Card belongs to a prospective voter presenting it.

Boston Officer Who Helped Save Lives During Marathon Attacks Gunned Down

A decorated Boston police officer who helped the wounded in the aftermath of the 2013 Boston Marathon attacks and was later honored at the White House was critically injured Friday night after a suspect opened fire during a vehicle stop.

Officer John Moynihan, 34, was shot in the face just below the right eye and was “fighting for his life” in a medically induced coma, police Commissioner William Evans said.

Germanwings crash: Co-pilot told ex-girlfriend 'one day everyone will know my name'

The Germanwings co-pilot who crashed his Airbus in the French Alps, killing all 150 aboard, told his ex-girlfriend that "one day everyone will know my name", according to German newspaper Bild.

In an interview, the 26-year-old flight attendant known as Maria W told Bild that when she heard about the crash she recalled Andreas Lubitz telling her last year: "One day I'm going to do something that will change the whole system, and everyone will know my name and remember."

 There has been shock and fear ,over a strange baby born at a maternity centre (name withheld) situated at Ifosan area of Ilesa, in Osun State.

Speaking with Saturday Tribune during the visit on Thursday, the proprietress, (she is called matron by her staff) said  the woman who gave birth to this deformed baby was “about 25 years old and she has been without a child for three years.”

Apple CEO Tim Cook is giving hundreds of millions of dollars to charity.

Cook, who is close to becoming a billionaire, says he will pay for his nephew's college education, then donate the rest of his wealth to philanthropic projects, according to Fortune.

Poll: 30, 009 policemen for North-East, Ebonyi, Imo

The Nigerian Police have deployed 30,009 police personnel in the North-East, Imo and Ebonyi states.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, has deployed no fewer than 20, 000 police personnel for the general elections in the North-East.

Pope sends offering to Nigerian families affected by Boko Haram

Just a week after writing a warm letter of encouragement to Nigerians, Pope Francis today March 27th donated money from the Italian church offerings to Nigerian families affected by Boko Haram activities in the north According to Vatican press, Pope Francis referred to the money as a "tangible sign of solidarity" to the affected families, adding that the Pope does not "forget their suffering,".
