A former Niger-Delta militant, Government Ekpemupolo, otherwise known as Tompolo, has described the victory of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, as the will of God.

Nigerian to die in Indonesia for drug trafficking

Local media report on Thursday in Jakarta, said another Nigerian, Simon Ezeaputa, has been sentenced to death in Indonesia for drug trafficking.

It said the district court in Tangerang, near Jakarta, on Wednesday found Ezeaputa guilty of controlling a drug transaction from his prison cell, where he was serving a 20-year jail term for drug offences.

Officials: Al Qaeda fighters free 270 from Yemeni prison

Sanaa, Yemen (CNN)Al Qaeda fighters attacked a prison in the coastal Yemeni city of Al Mukallah early Thursday, freeing at least 270 prisoners, a third of whom have al Qaeda links, a senior Defense Ministry official has told CNN.

Khaled Batarfi, a senior al Qaeda figure, was among the escapees, officials said.

Breaking news: Masked gunmen attack university in eastern Kenya

(CNN)Gunmen attacked a university in south central Kenya before dawn Thursday, firing indiscriminately and sending students scrambling for cover.

At least 30 people were hospitalized from the attack at Garissa University College, most of them with gunshot wounds, the Kenya Red Cross said.

Photos from the smoke incident at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos

There was a minor smoke incident at the "E" arrival wing of the International terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at about 1.13pm today, Wednesday , April 1st. The smoke was quickly traced to some offices at the E wing on the ground floor of the terminal by a combined team of FAAN’s electrical engineers and fire officers. Investigations has commenced to ascertain the cause of the fire.

The airport authority in a statement said the traveling public and other airport users were in no immediate danger as a result of the incident and neither did it affect flight operations at the terminal.
