» PDP members dissociate themselves from Fayose’s ‘death wish’ advert against Buhari
A former member of the Senate, Mr Ayo Arise, has blamed Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, over his ‘death-wish’ adverts on the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari.
Arise also rated President Goodluck Jonathan above the candidate of the APC in the March 28 presidential election.
The senator said Jonathan must not be blamed for all the crises bedevilling the country.
Arise , who was chairman, senate committee on privatization, spoke on a live programme monitored in Ado Ekiti, yesterday.
Arise, who disagreed with Fayose over his advertisements on Buhari, said the governor was entitled to his opinion.
He said: “Our party has come out strongly to say that Fayose is not speaking for the party. Left to me as an individual, I disagree with him on this. I believe we don’t need such in the PDP, all we need is to work and campaign for the president to win the election fair and square”.
He urged Nigerians to support Jonathan in his re-election bid “to ensure continued transformation of Nigeria in all facets”.
He said Jonathan’s re-election would ensure economic development of the nation, adding that the current economic depression in the country was as a result of the global economic recession.
Arise, who lost his election bid for senatorial ticket on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, said the country would benefit more from “Jonathan’s sense of patriotism and commitment to nationhood, if re-elected”.
He said: “Among all the contenders, President Jonathan stands tall above others. This does not suggest that I am casting aspersion on other candidates or reducing their competences. Our president is not the type who believes in media propaganda about achievements in office, because he believes the primary aim of any government is to provide basic amenities like good roads, robust housing sector and well paid employment”.
