Fifteen traders were killed on Friday at a market in Mainok village in Kaga local government of Borno state when suspected members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect attacked the market for food.
A member of the youth vigilante group who does not want his name in print, said information reaching the vigilance group had it that the Boko Haram terrorists in their large number invaded the town in the afternoon and began to shoot into the market causing many to die and others seriously injured.
Also, two suspected female suicide bombers waiting by the express roadside to travel to Damaturu were killed in accidental detonation of the explosives they were carrying on Saturday, an eyewitness said.
The two women, according to the witness, died in the explosion with two other intending travellers, who were equally waiting by their side at Ngamdu village, a distance of 100 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital and 30 kilometres from Damaturu, the capital of Damaturu where they were headed.
It was gathered that the two women who were in their late 20s and wearing long hijab, were probably heading to Damaturu for a major suicide bombing expedition but were prevented by their inability to get a commercial vehicle to get them to their destination.
