MultiChoice Nigeria has defended the latest DStv tariff increase in Nigeria, saying the company has taken into account many factors.
Its Public Relations Manager, Ms. Caroline Oghuma, said in a statement in Lagos that such factors included “the impact on the subscriber, current inflation, and efficiencies effected within the company that may offset the necessity for a price increase.”
The company also said the increase in DStv tariffs was not only in Nigeria, but also in every country where MultiChoice has its operations.
Multichoice Africa, the parent company of DStv, on March 3, 2015, announced a price increase for DStv, which will take effect from April 1, 2015.
The price increase will set the DStv premium, which is currently at $77 to $81 monthly.
“MultiChoice implements annual subscription price increase in all its operating countries, however, a price increase was not implemented in Nigeria last year.
“We would like to reassure our subscribers of our best intentions and reaffirm our commitment to Nigeria which is clearly demonstrated through our continuous INVESTMENTS in the country,” the statement said.
