For those of you who needed more information with regards to what happened yesterday at Abuja airport, here is a break down from a passenger who was on the flight, Cedar Chinwuba
1. The revolting passengers boarded a flight to Sokoto and about taking off, the pilot announced that the flight has been cancelled and dropped them off at the Tarmac.
2. They claimed to have been at Abuja airport since 8:00am. I witnessed the incident at noon due to the fact I had a 3:15 flight from Abuja to Lagos.
3. No management of Arik airline came to address the incident
4. The man identified as the chief security officer of Arik airline was seen very far from Tarmac
5. The pilot for my plane tried to reach airport security on many occasion but there were no response.
6. According to the pilot, he told us that he has also contacted Arik to send the Nigeria police but was not able to reach them
7. We got disembarked from the flight due to security reasons and later took off at 5:15 after a lot of pleading by the passengers aboard my air craft.
I feel the Nigeria airport authority should take matters like this very serious. One of the sokoto passenger told us that all they wanted was for a senior staff of Arik airline to address them and not them absconding from duties.
They also apologized to us stating that they had to do what needs to be done else same incident will repeat itself. They also felt bad claiming that "maybe because they were heading to Sokoto" that was why they got treated this way. others were chanting "we are one Nigeria and Arik treatment to us is not fair".
