THE much-publicised marriage of internationally renowned gay couple Thoba Sithole and Cameroon Modisane is on the rocks.

It is reported that Modisane has marooned his husband Thoba for the second time less than a year after allegations that the former sired a sprog with a Soweto young woman.

According to one of the couple's friends, who asked to remain anonymous, Modisane has since moved out of their Buccleuch, Joburg, townhouse two weeks ago and was now squatting with friends in Pretoria.

"Remember they separated last year after Cameroon complained that Thoba was physically abusing him but they reconciled after their families got involved and intervened. But this time they have separated for good because of lies and cheating. Apparently it has to do with allegations that Cameroon impregnated some woman although he denied that," said the friend.

The friend said that Modisane has already moved on with his life and was now romantically linked to a Pretoria lawyer, with whom he spent Valentine's Day while Sithole was in romantic Siberia.

Sithole confirmed that he and Modisane have gone their separate ways two years after making international headlines when they tied the knot in what was dubbed "Africa's first traditional gay wedding" in 2013.

At the time, the two told reporters that they slaughtered a gay bull for their wedding feast.

"I can confirm that Cameroon and I have not been living together for the past two weeks. But it has nothing to do with rumours that he impregnated a woman. In fact, when we both heard those rumours we laughed them off because Cameroon is so gay and there was no way that could have possibly happened," he said.

Sithole hinted that although they did not go for counselling before and after their split, he was optimistic they would resolve their differences and get back together.

"I can say we have just decided to give each other some space. In this world there is no perfect relationship or marriage. Like any couple we have our own problems and we would overcome them," he said.

He also said he was not aware of the allegations that Modisane had moved on and was now romantically linked to a Pretoria lawyer. "He has not told me that he has moved on. I will find out from him," he said.

Modisane ignored our calls and text messages we sent him. The couple's union started disintegrating last year when Modisane obtained a protection order against his husband at the Randburg Magistrate's Court after complaining that he landed in hospital after he moered him.

In his affidavit, seen by Sunday World, Modisane said he was hospitalised after Sithole beat him like a rented horse.

"On March 27, I arrived home and he started to beat me up again. He punched me in the mouth. He also bit my right thumb and pushed me to the ground and I sustained bruises and cuts on my elbows," he wrote in his court papers.
