Police in Miami Beach, Florida, responded on Wednesday to what was later revealed to be a false report of a shooting at the home of rapper Lil Wayne, according to a police spokesperson.

A person telephoned the non-emergency police number at 12:40 p.m. ET claiming to have fired shots in the home, injuring four people, police said.

Miami Beach Police spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez told reporters that SWAT teams have established a perimeter at the scene, and searched each room of the extensive waterfront mansion.

Several hours later, Rodriguez confirmed the entire incident had been a “hoax” and that no victims had been located.

“This ties up a lot of police resources when possibly someone might need help at another location,” he said

Lil Wayne’s label, Young Money, said on Twitter that the rapper was OK and not at home during the alleged shooting.
