Speaking to journalists after the exercise, the governor described the exercise at the polling unit as peaceful. He urged the residents of the state to come out within the time left for the accreditation exercise to come out and perform their civic responsibility.
The governor also appealed to residents to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner during the accreditation and voting proper. “People have taken their time to come out for some hours, we still have about 90minutes more to the end of the accreditation exercise.
“ I will appeal to residents to still take the trouble to partake in the exercise and conduct themselves in a peaceful manner,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwan Akiolu, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the early arrival of its ad-hoc staff to conduct accreditation in his area. Akiolu gave the commendation shortly after he was accredited at 10:45am in Onimole Polling Unit 013, Ward C1 in Iga Iduganran, near his palace in Lagos Island.
“There is greater improvement to that of March 28 presidential election and I commend the INEC for doing their work. “We are happy that all their materials are intact, this is kudos to INEC,” he said. He also commended the people in the area for their conduct and urged them to allow peace to reign.
“Everybody should be peaceful and should allow peace to reign,” he said, adding that the will of God would prevail.
