Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has taken his search for investors in the oil and gas in his state to the United States of America.
Obiano is currently in Houston, Texas, where the 2015 Offshore Technology Conference is holding.
The governor, according to a statement by his media assistant, Emeka Ozumba, on Friday, would use the opportunity of attending the conference to hold discussions with prospective investors and technical partners, who would be interested in the key sector.
The statement indicates that the OTC, which commenced on May 4, is sponsored by 13 industrial organisations.
“They work cooperatively to develop the technical programmes in energy, where professionals meet to exchange ideas and opinions to advance scientific and technical knowledge for offshore resources and environmental matters,” it added.
The statement stated that the governor was optimistic that “the American trip would afford the state a viable platform to engage with industrial experts and hold further talks, with the aim of convincing prospective investors to participate in the development of our immense oil and gas deposits in Anambra.”
Obiano was quoted as saying, “The fact that oil and gas rank second among our four pillars of development gives you an idea about the importance we attach to the realization of our set goals in the sector.”
It said the governor was leveraging on some of the contacts to ensure “we get the best to come and join us in developing our oil and gas deposits in a viable and more friendly way.”
