» Prince Harry Gets Marriage Proposal, Kiss on the Lips as He Says Goodbye to Australia
Prince Harry got way more than he bargained for when he appeared at Sydney, Australia's famous Opera House on Thursday, May 7 — a marriage proposal and a kiss on the lips!
The blushing Royal looked overwhelmed when an amorous blonde admirer lunged for his lips after asking for a kiss as he met the public in one of his two farewell engagements to tie up his monthlong attachment with the Australian Defence Force.
Victoria McRae, 21, who was dressed in a sequined minidress emblazoned with the Australian flag, had initially asked the British Prince for his hand in marriage, holding up a large placard with the words "Marry Me Prince Harry, Last Chance!" written across it.
When the handsome 30-year-old royal politely requested time to "think about" the proposal, daring McRae asked if she could have a kiss. Feeling generous, the Prince leant in, offering his cheek to his admirer — but McRae had a different idea!
"I said I'd be happy with a kiss, and so he let me kiss him on the cheek, but then I went in for it," the cheeky royal fan told Sky News via the Sydney Morning Herald. “The rest is history. I'm very happy."
McRae also managed to plant a kiss on Australian Premier Mike Baird, although that barely registered on her excitement barometer.
"I got Harry's lips!" she said excitedly, afterwards. "I only kissed the Premiere on the cheek!"
After regaining his composure, the playful Prince took the situation in his stride.
"I thought we were going to turn up and there would be 10 people there, so it's a wonderful opportunity for me to say thank you to them," the new uncle, who has yet to meet his niece, Princess Charlotte, told reporters of the public event. "They have made me feel so at home here," he continued. "It's going to be hard to leave — I don't want to go home, I want to stay here," he said.
Asked about the kiss with McRae, Prince Harry smiled. "I got more than one kiss," he replied, cheekily.
Prior to his meet-and-greet (and kiss!) Harry took part in a military training exercise in Sydney Harbor. He then made his was on from the Opera House to travel to Macquarie University Clinic to visit Lt Ali Spearing, a Royal Engineers Officer who was badly wounded, losing both legs above the knees whilst on deployment in Afghanistan in 2011.
Prince Harry's next stop before he returns home to meet the newest member of the Royal Family is New Zealand, where he will conduct an official tour from Saturday, May 9 which will run for a week.
