Spider venom may end up being the next Viagra according to a report.

Wired reports that researchers into erectile dysfunction are looking at  banana spider venom as a possible solution.

The spider's venom is known for causing priapism, which floods the penis with blood.

This is dangerous, because when blood stops circulating it begins to clot, and men don't generally want blood clots in their penises.

That said, researchers tested the venom on mice and found that it was indeed a spider based Viagra.

After finding the venom was effective, the researchers engineered some bacteria in a bid to produce the venom in large enough quantities for clinical testing.

While this has so far only been used to get rodents and amputated human penises hard, it is continuing down the drug pipeline.

It may take years to get their, but spider venom has real potential to both improve erections and generate a profit.
