The Benue State Police command, yesterday nabbed a syndicate with over 12,000 Permanent Voters’ Cards in the state.
This is coming barely two days after the state police command arrested four other persons in possession of over 1,000 PVCs in Makurdi.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Hyacinth Dagala, who confirmed the arrest, gave the name of the gang leader as Ali Usman.
Usman was arrested with another of his colleague, Terseer Wuar.
The gang leader claimed that he was on an errand for some top politicians in Abuja running a group called Northern Youths’ Forum.
Dagala, however, refused to give the identity of the parties the suspects were working for, saying that it might thwart investigations.
Punch reports that Usman was arrested at Benue Links motor park as he was boarding a bus to Abuja, while Wuar was also nabbed at a business centre in Makurdi by the police, following a tip-off.
The police boss said they were apprehended with photocopies of PVCs and would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations were completed.
They will not succeed in rigging this election.
