A former employee of Punch Nigeria Limited, Olamide Fashanu, has been arraigned for allegedly stealing about N4.9m belonging to the company.

Fashanu was, on Thursday, arraigned by the police before the Ikeja Magisterial Court 2 in Lagos State.


The police alleged that the 30-year-old committed the offence at Olu Aboderin Street, Onipetesi, Ikeja, Lagos State.

The accused was alleged to have committed the offence between October 2013 and December 19, 2014.

Fashanu, however, denied the allegation, as he pleaded not guilty to the one count leveled against him.

The charge numbered MMK/B/47/2015 read, “That you, Olamide Fashanu, ‘m’, between October 2013 and 19 December, 2014, at about 1100hrs at No. 1, Olu Aboderin Street, Onipetesi, Ikeja, Lagos, in the Magisterial District of Lagos State, did steal the sum of N4,936,805.00, property of Punch Nigeria Limited and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 284 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.”

Following his arraignment, the accused was subsequently admitted to bail in the sum of N100, 000.

The matter was adjourned till April 23, 2015.
