The problems of living in a face-me-i-slap-you environment though. Mrs Mercy Chintua, a pregnant woman, residing in Akwuke, Awkunanaw in Enugu State has been detained by the Police after she allegedly injured her neighbour by pouring hot water on him. This happened on the 23rd of February last week.
Mrs. Mercy claimed that she took her action after she caught her neighbour, Emmanuel Anyebe, peeping at her while she was having her bath.
Punch reports that the victim, Emmanuel was about to take his bath too when Mercy bruised him with Steaming hot water.
Emmanuel was later taken to the hospital after sustaining several bruises due to the incident
Speaking to the Police force, Chintua stated that she did what she did to punish Emmanuel who saw her nudity after he peeked while she was having her bath.
Mercy said,
“On that fateful day, as I was taking my bath, Anyebe peeped at on me while trying to gain access into the bathroom, and in the process, saw my nakedness.”
Furious Chintua, who said she was provoked at the invasion of her privacy, heated a pot of water and when it became boiled, she poured the it on Anyebe. That’s cruel!!
Mercy apologized for her actions and claimed that it was the handiwork of Satan.
Emmanuel ran into a coma as a result of the excruciating pain, and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
After regaining his consciousness, Emmanuel denied Mercy allegations of peeping and said,
“It all happened as I wanted to enter the bathroom to take my bath, only to be stopped by Chintua, who wanted to take her bath first.“I simply left after Chintua rushed into the bathroom to take her bath before I could do same.”
Emmanuel further stated that he went to the Mercy’s husband to complain about what had happened, thereafter, he headed back to the bathroom to have his bath when Chintua had finished having her bath.
It was while Anyebe was taking his bath that Chintua poured the hot water on him.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, said Chintua was remorseful and had blamed her action on the devil.
He added, “The suspect is with us and has been helping the police in the investigations into the incident.
