When debating who’s the best player in the world, there are two names: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, Eden Hazard‘s name should be added to that discussion.
Hazard as been enjoying a brilliant season for the Blues, scoring 18 times in all competitions, including the only goal in Chelsea’s 1-0 win over Manchester United last weekend.
The 24-year-old Belgian is the heavy favorite to be named PFA Player of the Year this season, but his boss said the trophy he wants Hazard to win is the Premier League title.
He knows that he is one of the three best players in the world, the responsibility that comes with that and he is coping with that responsibility.
I had lots of stars, but he is the humble star. He is a kid, but also a family man and I want Eden Hazard to be a champion. If people are fair, then he gets the [Player of the Year] award, but the first thing I want him to win is the Premier League. He deserves this.
To get praise like that from a manager like Jose Mourinho shows how talented Hazard is, as Mourinho has coached many of the best players in the world, including Cristiano Ronaldo.
More than just scoring goals, Hazard creates for his teammates, using a deadly combination of speed, footwork, and vision. Hazard is so shifty and quick on the ball, it is nearly impossible to stop him, especially when you have to think about defending the likes of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa at the same time.
The Belgian winger is also the most fouled player in the Premier League, which shows how much trouble defenders have containing him.
Hazard has already won numerous accolades, including a Ligue 1 title and two Ligue 1 Player of the Year awards at Lille. Last season he was named Young Player of the Year in the Premier League as well as Chelsea Player of the Year.
When he is named Player of the Year in the upcoming weeks and lifts the Premier League trophy at Stamford Bridge, it will be hard to argue Hazard’s name isn’t near the top of that list for best footballers in the world.
